AIR DATE: February 13, 2013

If you've been following the debate about mental illness and guns, or the saga of embattled Assemblyman Steven Brooks, you've probably heard the term "Legal 2000." That's the law that allows the state to involuntarily commit someone to a mental institution, if that person is a danger to himself or others. But how does it work? And why are so few people who are brought in to the hospital for commitment actually committed under state law? We'll talk to a psychiatrist who trains other physicians on the process.

GUEST

Dr. Lesley Dickson, psychiatrist
