On November 17, 1955 a US Air Force Transport took off from Burbank, Calif. The plane was bringing engineers, CIA personnel and scientists to Area 51, where they spent the week working on top secret miltary projects. On that day, however, things were far from ordinary. The plane lost its way and crashed on Mt. Charleston. The story was hushed up until the last decade or so when it declassified at the end of the Cold War. After years of pushing for a Cold War National Memorial, organizers will finally break this weekend on the Cold War Memorial.
