The Health Care Coalition, which represents several health insurance funds, is crying foul. It claims that St. Rose Dominican Hospitals misused patient records to ask patients to lobby for St. Rose. The hospitals wanted the funds to know that patients did not want St. Rose cut off the list of local hospitals. And that, says the Coalition, is a breach of privacy and definitely not how hospital records should be used or legally can be used. So what happened here? And can a hospital use its billing records to pressure insurance funds to sign a contract?
