This summer, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency plans to detonate 700 tons of explosive compound at the Nevada Test Site, 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas. Codenamed Divine Strake the test is expected to produce a dust cloud that may reach 10,000 feet and a blast that might be felt at Indian Springs, about forty-five miles away.
