Las Vegas has been featured on the Travel Channel time and time again. Usually, it’s fancy Strip hotels, or five-star eateries. But at least one time, a different side of Vegas was featured.
RC Farms, a pig farm in North Las Vegas, has been featured and written about many times over the years for feeding its pigs leftovers from the Las Vegas Strip.
Now, after 40 years, owner Bob Combs is selling the place. That will be welcome news to neighbors in the area who have complained mightily about the smells emanating from the farm.
Mike Montandon, the former mayor of North Las Vegas and the broker for RC Farms, joins KNPR to talk about why the owners decided to sell.
"It's time," Montandon said, "Things are changing. The bridge over I-15 at 5th, creating this new corridor. Land values are back to where they were a few years ago."
Montandon said his client is 78 years old and although he loves being a pig farmer he feels it is time to sell.
"He's not leaving because anyone is complaining [about the smell]," Montandon said.
The 40 acre pig farm is priced at $31 million.
