Mayor Invites Tweeters To Review Her 'State Of' Speech

The city of Las Vegas wants you to tweet about the mayor's State of the City address.

The city of Las Vegas wants you to tweet about the mayor's State of the City address.

Every year, just about every mayor or governor or president or university chief does a “state of” speech.

You know the speeches. They talk of all the great things their great city has done in this great state in this great country.

They go on like that. Sometimes for more than an hour.

And they go on. And they go on. And they go on.

You get the picture: these state-of speeches can sometimes become an exercise in cheerleading that only people who have business with the city attend, their faces wrenched into eternal smiles.

But the city of Las Vegas is doing something different. Maybe even a bit risky.

They’re inviting you to tweet about the mayor’s speech.

That’s tweet, not tweak.
