The Bellagio offers a high-tech twist on the classic Kabuki story "Koi Tsukami (Fight With a Carp)." This is an artist's rendering of the stage and effects.

This weekend, the ancient Japanese art form of Kabuki debuts on the Las Vegas Strip with a technological update and, in true Las Vegas form, lots of spectacle.

Japanese actor Ichikawa Somegoro will battle a giant fish on the lake at the Bellagio Friday through Sunday.

August 14: 9:15 p.m.

August 15: 9:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

August 16: 9:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

The 30 minute 'battle' will take place on a 165-foot stage constructed inside Lake Bellagio.

Somegoro will be performing the Kabuki masterpiece "Koi Tsukami" or "Fight with the Carp." The fish and the turbulent sea will be projected onto the Fountains of Bellagio.

"It's going to be spectacular sight," Alan Feldman with MGM Resorts said, "Almost the entire front facade of the Fountains at Bellagio has been transformed into a Kabuki stage."

The performance is part of an effort by MGM Resorts International to celebrate Japanese arts and culture. The company has also debuted art installations from a Japanese sculpture and used Japan as inspiration for its display in the Conservatory.
