Nevada author Mark Bacon’s new book “Death in Nostalgia City” is a murder mystery that takes place in a 1960’s-themed amusement park in southern Arizona.
Left to investigate the series of unfortunate events happening at the park is Lyle Deming, a former police officer turned cab driver, and Kate Sorenson, a former communications director for a Las Vegas casino.
A former UNLV journalism instructor, Bacon incorporated his own experience working in a theme park and in Las Vegas public relations into the narrative.
“Death in Nostalgia City” recently received a 2015 San Francisco Book Festival honorable mention, and Bacon will be signing copies of the book from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at BooksorBooks, 3460 E. Sunset Road.
Bacon will talk about unusual aspects of the murder mystery genre, where the writers get their inspirations and common mistakes made.
