UNLV is considering buying a piece of land along Tropicana Ave.

Could it be for a stadium? Maybe for a medical school? What about housing?

There are a lot of possibilities for what an additional 42 acres of landcould do for the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The university is eyeing a $50 million parcel on Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane to potentially expand its campus.

An agreement between the UNLV Foundation and land manager Wells Fargo gives university officials until the end of the year to come up with a solid plan for the best use of the land, and how to finance it. Ultimately, it will be up to the board of regents to accept or not.

The campus currently spans about 330 acres, just east of the strip.
