More Than 72,000 Nevadans Enroll In HealthCare.Gov Plans

Officials say more than 72,000 Nevadans have signed up for insurance through HealthCare.Gov during the open enrollment period that ended Sunday.

That's about twice as many people as signed up during the initial open enrollment period that ended last spring.

While the open enrollment period for the federal insurance marketplace ended Feb. 15, some people who encountered technical difficulties or long call center wait times can still sign up until Feb. 22.

People who don't sign up by then may not be able to buy plans through the system for the rest of the year, and could face fines for being uninsured.

Everyone who signed up for a plan through Nevada Health Link last year had to re-enroll because Nevada switched from a state-run to a federally supported system.
