Hikers Stranded At Red Rock By Snow Get Out Okay

Police in Las Vegas say three hikers have been rescued in good health at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, almost 24 hours after they reported being stranded by rain and snowy conditions.

Officer Larry Hadfield said the two men and one woman were located by helicopter and removed from the Ice Box Canyon area about 2:45 p.m. Monday.

The group called for help about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, after rain and snow moved into the rugged and scenic area about 20 miles west of downtown Las Vegas.

A brief search Sunday night was halted due to worsening weather conditions, and Hadfield says the three were instructed to find shelter until morning.
