Thousands Watch MLK Day Parade In Las Vegas

Thousands of spectators lined the route while drum corps, drill teams and floats paraded past during a yearly celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in downtown Las Vegas.

The theme for the 33rd annual parade was "Living the Dream: Where Do We Go From Here?"

It capped a weekend of activities like a gospel play at the West Las Vegas Theater and a 29th annual Interfaith Community Memorial Service in south Reno that drew an estimated 250 people.

The Sunday event focused on children and the future.

The Rev. Neal Anderson tells the Reno Gazette-Journal the idea is to keep alive the legacy of King and the civil rights movement.

King would have been 85 now. He was assassinated in April 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee.
