Ride Share Companies Can Now Operate In Arizona

Arizona officials suspended all state investigations and administrative hearings on ride sharing companies yesterday, saying they want to encourage business while new laws are being considered.

The Arizona Department of Weights and Measures, which regulates taxi companies,   announced it would cease enforcement actions against companies such as Uber and Lyft as part of new Gov. Doug Ducey's agenda of supporting "entrepreneurial style businesses."

The move comes less than a year after Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed legislation which would have specifically legalized the practice, exempting drivers from most of the requirements for insurance and safety inspections that apply to taxis.
