New Scoreboard, Sound System At Mackay Stadium Eyed For 2015

The University of Nevada's plans for an extensive renovation of Mackay Stadium is scheduled to be complete for the 2016 season opener.

But a Wolf Pack fan is campaigning to get a new scoreboard and sound system in place earlier.

Brantly Compton tells the Reno Gazette-Journal that the $2.5 million in upgrades could be done this year if enough money comes in by mid-February.

The state Board of Regents approved plans for the more extensive renovation on the Reno campus in December.

The $11.5 million project calls for the addition of an 8,500-square-foot club level on the west side and more outdoor patio space in the east-side suites. Bleachers will be replaced with permanent chair backs, and restrooms will be redone so the stadium more fully complies with disability laws.
