Agents: 2014 Median Las Vegas-Area Home Prices Up 10.3 Percent

Real estate agents say the median single-family home price in the Las Vegas area rose 10.3 percent in 2014, to about $204,000.

Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors President Keith Lynam noted in a report issued Thursday that the increase was less than half the approximately 24 percent per year increases in 2012 and 2013.

A modest 1 percent increase in December home prices followed a 1.1 percent uptick in November that pushed home prices above the $200,000 mark.

That was notable after the median price of area homes peaked in June 2006 at $315,000, then fell by January 2012 to $118,000.

Lynam says foreclosures and short sales are making up a smaller share of the local housing market.

The association reports that 36,550 total properties were sold in 2014.
