5,000 More Nevadans Insured Through HealthCare.Gov

Officials say nearly 5,000 more Nevadans signed up for insurance through HealthCare.Gov in the week before a key enrollment deadline.

More than 52,000 people had enrolled in the program as of Jan. 16. Signing up by then ensured consumers would have coverage that started Feb. 1.

The open enrollment period for the federal insurance marketplace ends Feb. 15. People who don't sign up by then may not be able to buy plans through the system for the rest of the year, and could face fines for being uninsured.
