Woman Rams Car Into Minden Gold And Coin Shop

Authorities say they've arrested a 74-year-old woman who rammed her car into a gold and coin shop in Minden and drove into the middle of the store.

Douglas County deputies say none of the six employees inside the shop were injured in the crash, which happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The driver was examined by medical crews and later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Authorities say Cheryl Smith used her Pontiac Grand Am to hit the Nevada Gold and Coin Shop about three times before she broke down the wall and drove inside. Deputies say the wall collapsed and prevented her from backing out the way she came.

Smith is also accused of assault with a deadly weapon and felony destruction of property.
