Nevada Lawmaker Leaving Assembly For AG's Office

LAS VEGAS - Soon-to-be Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt has chosen a state assemblyman from Las Vegas to be his second-in-command.

Laxalt announced Friday that Republican Wesley Duncan would be named chief assistant attorney general. The move leaves an Assembly vacancy that Clark County commissioners will have to fill.

Commissioners are already seeking a replacement for the state Senate vacancy left when Mark Hutchison was elected lieutenant governor.

Duncan was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 2012 and has worked as a Clark County deputy district attorney since August 2013. Prior to that, he served as a judge advocate general in the Air Force.

Laxalt also served as a judge advocate general.

Laxalt also announced that his chief of staff will be Nick Trutanich, who worked as a federal prosecutor in Los Angeles.
