Nevada Higher Ed Chancellor Refutes Plagiarism Claims

Nevada’s higher education agency may have copied part of a Brookings-Mountain West report to create a grant for more Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

According to an article written  in Sunday’s Las Vegas Review-Journal, The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) copied portions of a Brookings report and used it to create a similar bill draft request to the senate interim legislative committee in June.

Brookings also submitted its report in November. As a result, there will likely be two similar, but competing, bill draft requests at the legislature in 2015.

Dan Klaich, chancellor, NSHE, denies the act of plagiarism, instead attributing the mishap to a matter of poor timing and miscommunication.
