Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., was named today to the Senate Finance Committee, which has broad authority over taxes, trade, health care and major federal human services programs. It’s a committee often in the spotlight.
Heller lobbied Republican leaders for the seat after he did not win election to become chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, a major position for fundraising and election strategy. He will be one of 14 Republicans on the committee when it convenes in the new Congress in January; along with 12 Democrats.
