Clark County Seeks Applications For Assembly Seat

Clark County is accepting applications for a Las Vegas Assembly seat after a Republican lawmaker announced he'd take a job in the attorney general's office.

The county says potential applicants must turn in their paperwork by 5 p.m. on Dec. 11, and a new legislator could be named at a Dec. 16 commission meeting. Candidates must live in Assembly District 37 and be a Republican.

The call for applications comes after Wesley "Wes" Duncan announced Friday that he would resign the seat to become second in command to Attorney General-elect Adam Laxalt. Duncan served one term in the Assembly before being re-elected in November.

Commissioners already filled one vacant seat this week. They appointed former Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli to finish former state Sen. Mark Hutchison's term.
