Clark County officials say they've received a dozen applications for Nevada Assembly seat in Las Vegas left open after a Republican lawmaker announced he'd take a job in the attorney general's office.
The paperwork was due Thursday, and a new legislator could be named at a Dec. 16 commission meeting. Candidates must live in Assembly District 37 and be a Republican.
The call for applications comes after Wesley "Wes" Duncan announced he would resign his seat to become second in command to Attorney General-elect Adam Laxalt. Duncan served one term in the Assembly before being re-elected in November.
Applicants are Glenn Trowbridge, Charles Harvey, Brian Hardy, Donald Graham, Chris Meservey, Aretta "Betty" Rumford, Jearld "Jerry" Hafen, Brian Patchett, Bill Cimo, Stan Parry, Rob Lauer and Rene Cantu Jr.
