Trial Date Set For Sparks Trespasser Killing

Lawyers on both sides say they are ready to go forward with a January 20 trial for a 73-year-old man Sparks charged with murder in the shooting of an unarmed trespasser.  Washoe District Judge Patrick Flanagan said during a status hearing in Reno Wednesday he's willing to postpone Wayne Burgarello's (buhr-guh-REH'-loh) trial if necessary,  but defense attorney Theresa Ristenpart  said it wasn’t. Burgarello in February shot and killed a man and seriously wounded a woman he says were trespassing in a vacant home he owns in Sparks.
