Recount Planned in Assembly Race Won by 11 Votes

A northern Nevada Assembly candidate who lost her race by 11 votes has requested a recount.

Officials in Washoe County said Monday that Republican Lisa Krasner has selected five percent of the precincts in Assembly District 26 that she'd like recounted. She lost to fellow Republican Randy Kirner, who's the incumbent.

The county registrar's office has five days to start the recount and must finish the process within five days of beginning. County officials are planning to start the recount on Thursday.

If a discrepancy is found in one percent of ballots or five votes, Krasner is entitled to a full recount of all ballots.

Secretary of State data show Kirner took 10,331 votes, while Krasner had 10,320 votes.
