This past summer, President Obama signed into law a $16.3 billion measure to overhaul the troubled Veterans Affairs Department.
The law includes benefits for veterans and their families who seek college degrees. Public universities that receive GI Bill money will be obligated to give veterans an in-state tuition rate.
There are currently 1,356 veterans enrolled at University of Nevada - Las Vegas. Bruno Moya is one of them.
“I was a combat instructor at the school of infantry for three years where I taught entry level Marines combat skills,” says veteran and UNLV full-time student Bruno Moya. “Going from that type of environment to be in a classroom was tough.”
Moya talks about the challenges of returning to civic life, after serving in the armed forces. And we hear what UNLV is doing to help veterans succeed in school.
