MGM Resorts International has given a big boost to a proposed house where people could stay while relatives receive treatment at a Las Vegas veterans hospital.
The casino company has pledged $250,000 to the Nevada Military Support Alliance for the Fisher House project, which would be built on the campus of the Southern Nevada Veterans Administration Medical Center.
The 16-suite complex would include private bedrooms and bathrooms for families, along with a common kitchen, laundry room and dining room.
There are 67 Fisher House properties in the nation. Nevada is the only state with a major military installation that doesn't have one.
The support alliance is seeking another $1 million for the project, which is expected to be finished in 2015.
