Officials say the expansion of a regional trash-handling center in North Las Vegas will make it the largest residential recycling complex in the nation.
Republic Services and subsidiary Republic Silver State Disposal say the project will more than double the size of the the Southern Nevada Recycling Complex at Cheyenne Avenue and Commerce Street, and will double its capacity for waste recovery from the region.
Republic says the facility will have automated controls and optical sorters, and will be able to process about 1,000 tons of mixed recyclables per day.
