Children Hit By Car Near LV School

Police say three children are being treated for injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening after they were struck by a vehicle in front of a Las Vegas school.

Las Vegas police Officer Laura Meltzer says the children had been dropped off Wednesday by a caregiver across the street from Hewetson Elementary School and weren't in a crosswalk when they were hit. The school is near Bonanza Road and 20th Street.

The children were taken to University Medical Center, and the driver remained at the scene.

Meltzer says the vehicle was moving at low speed, and the motorist wasn't believed to have been impaired.
