BLM To Gather 'Nuisance' Wild Horses South Of Ely

Wild horses along a stretch of US Highway 93 knocking down fences and getting intimate with privately-owned mares will be rounded up by Bureau of Land Management wranglers next month.

The BLM says there will be a "public safety and nuisance gather" of about 120 wild horses about 120 miles south of Ely along the Nevada-Utah border.

In addition to having their way with the mares, the BLM says they're destroying sprinkler systems, gardens, and lawns.  Roaming bands of mustangs wreaking havoc on private property 30 miles northwest of Ely will also be removed.  The BLM more typically conducts roundups to reduce herds they say are overgrazing public lands.
