Zipcar Comes To UNLV

Car sharing service Zipcar on Wednesday launched a new partnership with UNLV, adding two cars on campus. These new cars on campus are in addition to the six Zipcars available at the McCarran International Airport.

"Zipcar's presence at UNLV is a continuation of our efforts to add convenient alternative transportation options for our faculty, staff and students," said Tad McDowell, director of UNLV Parking Services. "As more students choose to live on campus and as the UNLV community turns to mass transit for their commute, Zipcar provides the freedom and flexibility for those without a car on campus to get where they need to go."

In addition, UNLV students, faculty, and staff are being offered special rates: $25 to join, with rates as low as $7.50 per hour or $69 a day. Students ages 18 and older and members of the local community ages 21 and over can reserve the cars via the Zipcar mobile app for Android or iPhone, via the web www.zipcar.com, or touchtone phone.

"Zipcar and UNLV are bringing the next generation of students the next generation of mobility to their doorstep," said Katelyn Lopresti, general manager for Zipcar University. Zipcars can be found on more than 350 colleges and universities nationwide, the company said.
