Casino giant MGM Resorts International says the M'Life name obtained by a Las Vegas marijuana dispensary is too close to the resort's own M life customer loyalty program.
The casino company has filed a lawsuit in federal court alleging trademark dilution and cybersquatting. MGM Resorts says it spent millions of dollars since January 2010 to promote M life. The program offers rewards to customers at 15 of MGM Resorts hotels.
Marijuana dispensary owner Daniel Lutz says he doesn't want his business to be confused with a casino loyalty program. He says they can work out an agreement. Lutz says the name stands for marijuana "raised to the power of life." He says there should be no confusion because his business and MGM Resorts are in distinctly different trades.
