Anthem College In Las Vegas Shuttered

Students going to class Friday at Anthem College in Las Vegas were met with a closed door.

The for-profit chain of colleges and career institutes closed its Las Vegas and Reno campuses after its parent company, Anthem Education, filed for bankruptcy, and a planned sale of some of its campuses to International Education Corp. wasn’t approved by the U.S. Department of Education. The company’s abrupt shut down has left more than 250 students in Nevada trying to transfer to other institutions.

The collapse of Anthem comes some four weeks after Corinthian Colleges and the Education Department announced a deal to sell or close Corinthian’s 107 campuses, including one in Henderson. Anthem’s Las Vegas campus is at 2320 S. Rancho Drive.
