State Of Emergency Declared On Mt. Charleston

Clark County commissioners voted Wednesday to declare a state of emergency for the Rainbow and Kyle Canyon subdivisions on Mount Charleston. The vote starts a potentially lengthy process to provide help to residents hit hard by flooding that destroyed homes and roads.

The cost of damage must be at least $6.8 million for the county to qualify for a Federal Emergency Management Agency grant. Clark County Commission Chairman Steve Sisolak says they will not have a total cost of damage for several weeks.
