Reid Announces Grant For AP Classes

Nevada is getting nearly half a million dollars to help low and middle-income students take Advanced Placement classes and the AP tests. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced a $436,000 federal grant to the Nevada Department of Education on Tuesday.

The Advanced Placement program allows students to take college-level courses at their high schools. Students who pass the accompanying tests are often eligible for college credit for the course. Reid says the grant will ensure students of all backgrounds can access the classes and the tests.
