In Reno a 24-year-old man accused of killing and dismembering several dogs, leaving a gruesome scene in a motel room, had his status hearing rescheduled. Jason Brown was scheduled to appear Wednesday on six felony counts. A half-dozen animal rights protesters demonstrated outside the courthouse before the hearing was continued until October 16.

Jay Bartos joined Nevada Public Radio in 1993 to develop and manage the state’s first radio reading service for people unable to use standard printed material due to blindness or another disability.
