Seismic Activity Forces Barrick Gold Workers To Evacuate Mine

About two hundred Barrick Gold employees were affected by yesterday’s evacuation of the Meikle Mine near Carlin, 25 miles west of Elko.  The evacuation was ordered yesterday afternoon because of seismic activity.  The Elko Daily Free Press reports that the activity was centered about 24 miles northwest of Carlin.

It was the second evacuation this week as a result of seismic activity.  There was an evacuation Tuesday due to a nearby wildfire.
