North Las Vegas Man Dies After Confrontation With Police

North Las Vegas police say a man who was shot and killed early Friday showed a handgun, which later proved to be a pellet gun.  A North Las Vegas police officer says the shooting happened a little before 2 a.m. in a neighborhood near Revere Street and Tropical Parkway.

The man had fled into the neighborhood on foot after refusing to stop for police while driving a motorized scooter. When cornered, he confronted the officers and drew what looked like a black semi-automatic handgun.  He was shot several times and died later at University Medical Center.
