Court Says Family Can Sue Metro

A group of Las Vegas parents will be allowed to go forward with a lawsuit against the Metro Sheriff's Office in the case of officers entering a house without a warrant. In October of 2009 two Metro officers entered a home they believed was being burglarized by teens. The owners, Jesus and Adriana Rodriguez had simply left their teen children alone that evening. Judge Margaret McKeown from the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, said in her written opinion that the officers neglected to question the boys about whom they were and even using excessive force when pointing a gun at one of the teens. There were three teenage boys in the house at the time of the incident. The parent and guardians are filing the lawsuit.
