Medical Marijuana Money Going To Commissioners

Three Clark County Commissioners received money from investors that are trying to get into the medical marijuana industry. According to findings by the Las Vegas Sun, Commissioners Chris Guinchigliani, Mary Beth Scow and Susan Brager all received donations totaling $36,350 dollars in early March. This happened shortly after the county announced it would allow dispensaries. These three commissioners had to disclose contributions but the other four did not because they are not up for re-election. Commissioners Scow and Brager have returned some of those donations.

Commissioner Guinchigliani has asked people to wait until after the commission has chosen the licenses before making any more donations. Starting today, the commission begins the process of reviewing medical marijuana applications. There will be a three-day public hearing. Commissioners will whittle down the 81 applications for dispensaries to 18 licensees.
