Commissioners Vote Down Tax Increase For University Medical Center

The Clark County Commission will continue to subsidize University Medical Center and won't consider any tax to pay for it. Yesterday, commissioners voted down a proposal by Steve Sisolak that would have asked voters for a tax increase on the November ballot. Sisolak says the tax would help create sustainable funding for the cash-strapped public hospital. The county instead will subsidize UMC with $71 million in the coming year.
