Is Las Vegas Ready For Pro Sports?

The companies promising to bring professional sports and a brand new stadium to downtown Las Vegas are getting extended time to put their plans together. The Las Vegas City Council voted 6-to-1 Wednesday to give the partnership of Cordish Companies and Findley Sports until September to outline a financial plan that will raise the $300 million needed for a professional soccer team and a new stadium in Symphony Park.

Councilman Bob Beers was the dissenting vote saying he didn't want taxpayers stuck with the bill. Major League Soccer is giving out one more franchise. Las Vegas would compete with five other cities for that team.
