Clark County Assumes Ownership Of Majority Of Dispensaries

Clark County commissioners are putting more dispensaries under their control and that has some municipalities upset. Tuesday, county commissioners voted to extend the number of dispensaries in unincorporated Clark County from 10 to 18. This means North Las Vegas and Henderson will get fewer.

The state law designates 40 licenses for the county with no municipality allowed to have more than 10. But, there is a clause allowing the county to change allocation of licenses if one area has a much larger population.

Under the changes Las Vegas now gets 12 licenses, North Las Vegas gets four, and Henderson gets five. Individuals and companies have filed eighty-one applications for dispensary licenses in unincorporated Clark County so far. Commissioners will vote on the licenses at a public meeting on June 5th.
