BLM Seeks Space For Wild Horses

The Bureau of Land Management is soliciting bids for short-term holding facilities as the agency continues its program of thinning out overpopulated herds of wild mustangs in the Western rangelands. The BLM places mustangs in the facilities until they are adopted or shipped to long-term pastures.

But, Suzanne Roy of the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign says the plans come at a time when the agency already “warehouses” more horses off the range that remain in the wild. The BLM will accept bids until June 2nd.
