Can 'Serious' Reading Happen Online?

With people spending on average three hours a day with their smartphone or tablet, we are consuming more and more information online. From short tweets to online articles and blog posts, we are constantly skipping around, skimming and scanning for information. But these habits are changing the way our brains process and comprehend. A recent article in the Washington Post suggests we are creating "digital brains" with the ability to skim through information online, but we are loosing our deep reading circuitry developd over generations. Blame it on Google?
