Muslim Brotherhood Emerges As Wild Card

The Muslim Brotherhood was once banned. Now it is one of the major wild cards in Egyptian politics. The Brotherhood's candidate, Mohammad Morsi, is on trial and the acivities of the brotherhood are once again bordering on illegal. So can a significant minority be cut out of national politics, or will it simply create more problems? And what, if anything, can the U.S. do to foster democracy in Egypt? Prof. Nathan Brown will be addressing the World Affairs Council on those issues. He joins us ahead of the meeting to talk about the future of Egyptian democracy and the brotherhood.

Nathan Brown, Professor of Political Science, George Washington University
