Kennedy Assassination - The Conspiracy Theories

In just the last five years, 1,400 new books on the Kennedy Administration, including on the president's assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald, have been published. Clearly, interest in the Kennedy presidency and the assassination is not waning. Among the theories put forth are that the crime was perpetrated by rogue elements in the C.I.A. who feared that Kennedy would walk away from Vietnam. Other theorists see the hand of organized crime taking revenge on the administration that had launched a war against the mob. And then there are those who say that one deluded and sad Marxist like Lee Harvey Oswald was all that it took to kill the president. The Mob Museum has organized a group of speakers to re-examine the issues this Thursday.

Patrick Nolan, author of " CIA Rogues and the Killing of the Kennedys: How and Why US Agents Conspired to Assassinate JFK and RFK"

Gerald Posner, author of " Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK"

Tom Stone, English lecturer, Southern Methodist University
