The Future Of Free Speech And Campaign Finance Reform

In 2010, the Supreme Court gave the green light to corporations and unions to spend unlimited money on elections. The money just has to be "independent" of the candidate. That unleashed a flood of money for television ads and they are almost always relentlessly negative. But was the Supreme Court saying that corporations are people? And what is the best way to reform the financing of political campaigns? Adam Winkler will be addressing those issues at a lecture on Tuesday evening at UNLV and he talks to us about his thinking, which doesn't follow the usual plan of depriving corporations of constitutional rights.
