How Tax Migration Works

GUEST

Travis H. Brown, author

Entrepreneurs and businesses -- and even private citizens -- pick up and move, based on state taxation, according to Travis H. Brown. Using data from the Internal Revenue Service, Brown has produced a book, "How Money Walks," based on the notion that "money walks because opportunity talks."

The subtitle of the book  is " How $2 Trillion Moved Between the States, and Why It Matters." The sum refers to Brown's estimate of how much adjusted gross income has moved between 2005 and 2010, when the individual earners of those incomes moved to a new state.
