Three producers are partnering with Planet Hollywood to make a 12-million dollar gamble on Surf the Musical. The nostalgic romp, infused with Beach Boys tunes, is scheduled to open on the Strip on July 17th. Backers are banking on the success of other 60's period pieces such as Jersey Boys and Human Nature, even though a similar show had a very short run on Broadway. We talk to the director of the show about why she thinks Las Vegas is the perfect place for a musical of the 60's beach sound.
