Living with Lupus

Lady J. Huston is a trumpet player and jazz singer.  But every time she takes the stage, Lady J. takes painkillers, just so she can make it through the show.  If she doesn’t take her medicine, she’ll be in extreme pain and be extremely tired.  Lady J. has lupus.  Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes joint pain and fatigue, and sometimes can even lead to seizures, stroke, or even death.  We talk about lupus, and how it affects patients and their loved ones.  We also talk with a local group, Colors of Lupus, who is taking a hands-on approach to helping patients.
